What are some good electric cars?

I've always wanted to buy a hybrid car. But now I want to compare let's say the Toyota Prius to a full electric car. If I can find a good full electric car that's at a good price, I'd get it. Does anyone know any cars or good websites that have sedan plug-in electric cars that cost pretty close to a gasoline car. I know that there is the Tesla Roadster and Chevy Volt, which are pretty cool. They're pretty expensive though. Thanks.

An electric car does not use gasoline. So how can those who drive hybrids and other electric vehicles be charged for using the road. do they get a free pass? Or will be all be tagged with GPS monitors and the government will know where we are and what we are doing 100% of the time?

I like that Tesla Roadster and I plan on beating the system of those awful gas prices and drive something electric and save good money. I wouldn’t want to be caught dead in one of those ugly ZAP or Volt electric cars, I want something that’s cool and more on the fast side and I want to be able to work out an affordable payment plan with a dealership.

The time has come to switch to electrci cars because gas prices have made it impossible to afford the same kind of living people have had 4 years ago.
And stop telling me about all this no electric cars available, electric cars not a good idea, drive slower, hey, gas is too high and it's time for an alternative and deep down, you know it to. It's time to drive something DIFFERENT, not DIFFERENTLY.
People have driven for many years now, it there was a super secret way of saving a butt load of gas money on the way they drive, they all would've done it by now, many years ago.
I refuse to put myself through this misery of high gas prices, I want to beat the system and laugh my head off at those oil companies while I save money with my new electric car.

I'm thinking of making some wind turbines, or just the plans, for sale, , with a quiet design like the ones in these websites:

http://www.pdx.edu/media/s/u/sus_wind_turbine_thmb.jpg

Also, would this be for a home, cottage, or other building? What voltage output would you prefer?

Please specify your city and country, thanks.

FYI, my first turbine will be to charge an electric car, like the one in this video..

How do I build a 3 volt powered electric car?

For my physics class a project was assigned in which we have to build an electric car powered by a 3 volt DC motor which could only be powered by 3 volts of battery power (in other words 2 AA 1.5V batteries). We just started learning about circuits so I don't have a very good knowledge about this kind of thing but I was wondering if there was any way to increase the power going to the motor without increasing the output of the batteries. I thought about a transistor to increase the voltage but if the motor can only take 3 V would it blow the motor if more volts were added? Or is there some way to increase amps instead of voltage that would assist the power. In case it helps I am planning on using the 3 V DC micro-vibration motor from radioshack.

1. My main question is, while i'm driving does this hybrid car use half gas half electric at once?

2. If the car needs maintenance do all mechanics for the most part know how to handle a hybrid car or do I have to go to special places for electric car maintenance?

3. Whoever owns a '08 camry hybrid, there's a Engine Starter button you press to turn on the car, 1st click of button shows "hybrid synergy drive" on screen, 2nd push of button, shows Eco-drive blah blah. I dont understand this can someone explain to me?
And you wonder why theres more import car sales than american…lol.

onboard charging system for electric car?

I am looking at building a electric car from the ground up
but i want a onboard charging system for the scenario where i'm not anywhere near a outlet(woods)

now I am looking at a 160v w a AC motor linked to a manual fwd trans
now the original plan was to use a generator (and build a larger tank and move the controls inside the cab-key/breakers– inside the driver compartment and mount the gas motor/alternatior to the frame w motor mounts to lessen the vibration) i want to produce 220 and charge in half the time(4/5hrs)
this would make it a hybrid kinda because the charging system would only be in use when the car is stopped and the key/motor were turned on

now at first i was going to go from generatior to a 220v charging box(the same type as if i was going to use a 220v outlet)but is there any way i could go without it
not only would this save room and cash but the less stuff to replace the better.
I can't go further in design until i get the charging system worked out
thanks
i'm using a generatior(plan b)
the controls are going to be inside the driver compartment the engine/gen will be behind the driver in a seperate compartment
Think of a lawn mower sized engine i'm looking at less then 40 extra pounds for the gen setup+the weight of the fuel
it is a back up system so i don't get stranded or have to bumb some juice off of a friend
i'm looking for a light weight alternatior that will produce the 220 to charge the system then i need to find the most efficent engine to run the generatior
I have a 3.5 briggs that i have jetted to run full throttle for 6.5 hours on 1/2 gallon of gas
i just need to find a alt to make the charging system work

overall i want to run till almost dead and then have the motor turn on and charge the system withhout my interaction but i want controls to the motor in case something goes wrong it is easier to hitt a kill switch then to have to stop in a hurry
but there are not alt/charging that will charge while operating avl
