and the electric (electrolysis) produced by coal/oil/nuclear/etc why not just have electric cars with a nice clean electric motor.
Batteries could be swapped at petrol stations so no need to wait.
Electricity also comes from solar.
I think industry is tooled up for the internal combustion engine petrol or hydrogen and are unwilling to change
With the advent of hybrids and possibly electric vehicles, this is a possible side effect. I was discussing this with an electrical engineer yesterday, and he said he would not wish to be subjected to the EMR given off from super high voltage systems needed to power electric vehicles. Any electrical experts out there have some input?
electric-vehicles-cars-bikes.blogspot.com Ferdinand Porsche put wheel motors on a battery electric car in 1897. They built about 300 of them and there were 4WD & FWD versions. He also made a hybrid version. Amazing that 112 years later Wheel motors still aren’t in mass production.Only about 15% of the energy from the fuel you put in your tank gets used to move your car down the road or run useful accessories, such as air conditioning. The rest of the energy is lost to engine and driveline …
www.ForkenSwift.com – Here’s the Forkenswift’s motor being spun up (and down, and up, and down) with a used golf cart controller. (Thanks to the EVDL folks for help with connecting the oddball Curtis.) Apologies for the poor vid quality – this was shot with a 20 year-old camera. Titles are hard to read in some places, so here they are 1. Another Forkenswift milestone… 2. First CONTROLLED electric power-up 3. No more welded jumper cables, like last time… 4. This time we’re hooked up to a …
Hi, my name is Ken Davis. I grew up working on cars, and have always been comfortable under the hood. I also care about the environment, and was searching for some way I could do my part to help fight global warming. Saving some money on my gas bill wouldn't hurt either. A friend suggested I take a look at converting one of my cars to run on electricity, and gave me some tips about how to get started. I put together this blog to share my experience.
