viinikka - How would you know how much energy is consumed? Are you an electrical engineer? Or a mechanical engineer? I am both a licensed emissions inspector, electronics engineer and I have 10 years experience as a mechanic. I can say with authority that you sir are sadly mistaken or mislead. Peace out.

Oil companies do have rights, and their lobbyist and lawyers see to it that they are grabbing all the cash they can! Oil companies have had their day with record profits and corruption. It's time for some grass roots, common sense ideas to take hold. The plug in hybrids can really help cut global warming and it can be done now!

"[T]the current hybrid car consumes more energy from the batteries than an SUV does in consuming gas, want the pollution side as well, disposal of the hybrid batteries causes more pollution than the entire life of an SUV."
Sources, Elky78? Sounds fishy.

God will not reward those who question his wisdom. There is plenty of oil in the ground if we just take if from the islamics. God gave us oil, coal and nuclear power. God did NOT give us man made batteries and liberal solar power. Man made solar panels and plug in hybrids are not Gods natural gift.

Oil companies have rights too. We should give them a chance to make hydrogen fuel cells. All you need is a little electricity to convert natural gas into hydrogen. Water takes more electricity to convert. There's lots of natural gas so there will be lots of hydrogen. We can build more nucular and coal powered generators to make the electricity to make the hydrogen. Jobs are created, profits trickle down, everybody wins. But with plug-in hybrids, only the left wingers win. That's unfair.

Ni-MH batteries (like the OEM battery found in the Prius) for a plug-in car will work well in sub-zero temperatures.
(Ask 'liveoilfree' about his experience in the HONDA EV+ in cold weather conditions)

If you want the heater on to keep things toasty, the engine will idle to keep the heater working. -Better wear good sweater...
