Do electric vehicles emit harmful electromagnetic radiation that is of any concern?
With the advent of hybrids and possibly electric vehicles, this is a possible side effect. I was discussing this with an electrical engineer yesterday, and he said he would not wish to be subjected to the EMR given off from super high voltage systems needed to power electric vehicles. Any electrical experts out there have some input?

DC is does not produce the same field fluxes as AC, so it is much safer. It is the oscillating fields that are very dangerous due to the constantly changing forces over the human cells…….
..
No more than your fridge or washing machine do.
That "engineer" is not at all well-informed on health matters. We're all exposed to EMR on a daily basis that equals or exceeds that produced by the electronic systems in an electric vehicle. These EMR levels have not been shown to elevate risks to human health.
Further, any component known to produce high levels of EMR is shielded – primarily to prevent that EMR from disrupting the function of other components in the system. Such shielding has the added effect of shielding passengers as well as bystanders from the EMR.
Almost everything around emit electromagnetic radiation.
Your vacuum cleaner,TV,fridge, computer and all the transmission lines you see around you.
It has never been proved that EMR is detrimental to you,but car emissions are.
Not really.
You get more from standing near high tension electrical lines.
In fact – years ago somebody figured out a way to make a small vehicle that could capture the stray electricity coming from those lines and use them to power a motor.
