While driving from work the other day, there was an uncovered manhole and I hit it. The left back tire and axle is broke. Both rear tires were flattened.The "kit" on the left side was torn off. The police officer saw the entire incident. Come to find out the "manhole" is managed by the local electric company and was not secured and so when my car or prior cars drove over it – it came up. Once I came through it was open and has damaged my car pretty bad. Sparks were flying everywhere as my car was dragging on the pavement. In trying to stop/brake after the impact, I sprang my left leg hip area really soar.. It scared me sooo bad and others who witnessed it, were shocked to see the damage.
I am not sure IF my car is totalled but I am not sure if I want to drive it aftewards, Can axles be repaired and the car driveable. Should seek legal action against the utility company? What are my rights? What should I do? Help!! On;y serious inquires only…please.
