03.39 – he’s got the ev grin!
another great video mate! i’m going lithium too. are you using the thundersky ones?
Yep – look at ep3. Next vid will also feature batteries (I’m using the thundersky LFP90Aha ones…)
Been waiting for your next update. Thx, keep it up… but enough messing around in other people’s cars, get cracking!
I’m planning on converting a car in a year or two when I get enough cash. Your setup is almost exactly what I’m aiming for, so I eagerly await to see how you get along. Keep up the good work!
Hey KdC – great seeing this all happenin’! Very very cool indeed…! PJ
damn it, I want that EV grin
!!!!!
everytime i drive my petrol car a little bit of me dies
. will be converting my first electric in the next yr or 2
lol the ending with the goat was funny…
haha one day i’m going to convert my mom’s previa to an ev…hopefully
Awesome stuff…. your detailed videos are VERY clear. Keep it up. I would love to build one..
Bravo! I’m very keen to see how your Thundersky Lithiums turn out as they’re the exact same ones I’m planning on using in the next EV.
Thanks very much for the videos uptil now. It’s really great.
Questions:
1. If you do not hear an engine, how do you know when to shift gear?
2. Would it be just as easy to connect the electric motor to an automatic gearbox?
3. How is the powersteering powered.
Hi computerjantje: answers…
1 when the car stops accelerating, it’s time to change.Or, use the tachometer
2 No. Very much not!
3 By an electric power steering pump!!
I like your project im from vancouver island canada Ill be building a lil 4×4 with one of those soon as they have alot of torque. But I have to say why dont you guys get a control with the Regen option and as you can program them and then get the equivalent of compression of an ICE. Cheers
Hi H4dflip, why not AC? Simple….Cost. I’m one guy doing and paying for all of this, so I can’t really justify the 250% larger expense for about 10 to 15% more range due to regenerative braking. Sad, but true…
man the project looks great and cant wait for the end results. i am wondering what the randge will be with the lipo. its going to be a 144v?
see later
Well I know you cant get Regen on a serie motor but you can on a permanent magnet one for DC. Im gonna have a 9″ motor for the rear end and a etek 19hp on the front so I can adjust the Regen, with all the problem in the USA I just hope Ill still be able to get the parts!
John Barrowman eat ya heart out.
John Barrowman???
He’s in Torchwood – cuuute
hah-hah, don’t worry about it
Cute? Argh – I was going for ‘Dark and Mysterious’.. oh wellz…
screw u middle east & south america. bye bye pertro dollers social government , van is better because you can out 100 batter in it. this would let u drive 1000 ,miles to 2000 miles on on a charge
How do you vent the battery’s? Zero emissions is not quite true.
Sealed batteries do not need venting – there are no gasses escaping! That siad, I may well push some air through the battery box to keep ‘em cool. And re zero emissions -there would be emissions from a coal fired power plant. How do you think one electric car’s power plant emission stack up to the tailpipe on a petrol driven car + all the electricity it took to DELIVER that fuel + the petrol in the truck that delivered the fuel + the oil tanker (see where I’m going with this?).
