Smart Fortwo Electric Drive (second-generation model)
Of all the cars in current production, the Smart Fortwo is perhaps the most obvious candidate for conversion to electric drive. Its upright construction allows an electric motor and batteries to be accommodated under the floor without eating into passenger or luggage space, while it is typically used for short urban journeys, which means that the main problem associated with today’s battery …

We have been fooled into depenency on fossil fuels. Take the fuel motor out of a hybrid and replace it with an electric motor the vehicle becomes regenerative. Add a generator to an electric car or conversion kit. Add regenerative braking(already on some hybrids)and solar panels for optimum efficiency. Take the fuel motor off a home generation system and add an electric motor then you have regeneration without the use of fuels. Run power plants with electric drive sysytems. Yes it is that easy. Tesla knew this that is why some of his work is classified. This information is free to all.
Recently there have been announcements by GM’s Chevy dept that It’s volt receives some 230 mpg and the Nissan also announced that it’s Leaf gets 367 mpg. My question is how does one calculate the mpg rating on an electric car… I thought I’d search online to find a conversion from mile per charge to mpg, but haven’t found anything…anyone got an answer?
An electric car accelerates for 8.0 s by drawing energy from its 305 V battery pack. During this time, 1340 C of charge pass through the battery pack. Find the minimum horsepower rating of the car.

I live in California and I created my own electric conversion vehicle. How do I register it legally with the California DMV? I tried looking through their site but either they don’t have instructions for me, or it’s too confusing/evasive for me to find. Last I heard, there were also extra steps I had to take to prepare my vehicle for inspection (although I have no idea from who, or where), and that only a 100 vehicles will be granted registration, on January 1st of every year. That sounds a little extreme to me.
I’m good with mechanics, but not good with applications/ paperwork/ legal issues at all. Help! I want to be able to drive my car on the streets.
Does anyone know anything that might be useful? Point me in the right direction? I know I could go to the local DMV, but I don’t even know who to ask there.
I have a 2002 Daewoo Lanos. It currently has cylinder head problems. The repairs would cost $1500. How would it be possible to convert my car to an electric car? Do you know anyone or anyplace I could contact to get information on where or how to obtain a conversion kit?
Thanks!
