I dont understand Why electric cars have such a short range before they have to be recharged. Why isnt there a massive alternator that is ran off the elctric motor that powers the car that intern recharges the battery?

According to one electric vehicle builder, the electric vehicle "cottage industry" is allegedly being "killed" by some bad battery chargers and other other components:

To me, this explains perhaps why people can't even easily build their own homebuilt EV's.

My question is whether those new electric cars being sold by the hundreds in cities with "Congestion Tax" and "Pollution Toll" are using the Zivan battery chargers that are alleged to be killing batteries prematurely. Is there any way to find out if the Reva G-Wiz, the Maranello-4, Aixam Mega Van, Twike, and other brands of EV's in UK, IItaly, India, Mexico, and Philippines are, or are not, using the Zivans charger? Is the EV "world" threatened by the Zivan charger, then? Are the electric vehicle manufacturers aware of the allegedly weak controllers, chargers that kill batteries and other suppossedly-bad components?

In other words, if a person or persons drive around in their electric cars, and the city they live in has a power failure, would their cars have a power failure as well?

Once too often I let the oil change go a week too long, or so. Now there is a clacking noise coming from one of the internal bearings.
This car would make a great electric conversion and I will give it to anyone wishing to use it for this project. (technically I will sell it to you for .00, unless you are an established charity able to handle donations.)

The current registration is good until November. It is currently in the Sebago Lakes Region of Maine, and the engine is good for some unknown number of miles. Maybe 100, maybe 10k? I have removed the car from my insurance policy, and the state inspection is overdo.
